It has been long recognized that the mouth is the mirror to the body. The presentation discusses cases of both children and adults with obstructive sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing where interdisciplinary approaches have led to better patient outcomes. Just like bees work together for the benefit of the hive and of their environment, so should we recognize signs and symptoms seemingly unrelated to our own specialty and collaborate with colleagues of different dental and medical specialties-oral surgeons, periodontists, orthodontists, ENTs, allergologists, sleep physicians, myofunctional and speech therapists, occupation therapists, radiologists, etc. When we educate ourselves, our teams and our patients about the relationship between oral and systemic health, the entire humanity benefits.
